Lloyd Alaban (“AL-uh-ban,” or if you really want to impress, “uh-LAH-bahn”) is a San Jose-based former journalist turned communications specialist. He has covered everything under the beaming San José sun, including
- Local politics and government
- Housing and homelessness
- Education
- Arts and culture
- Tech news
Lloyd’s work is driven by his desire to tell untold stories, a (sometimes too harmful) habit of going down historic rabbitholes, and a deep love for his community. His work has appeared in San José Spotlight, The Milpitas Beat, Metro Silicon Valley, Uni Watch, realtor.com, and Politico, among other places. Since 2020, he has won several awards thanks to the tireless work of his editors, including the 2020 John Swett Award for Media Excellence and four awards from the California News Publishers Association in 2021.
After transitioning into communications, he specializes in copywriting, editing, social media, speechwriting, press releases, and corporate messaging.
